My Solution...

It seems to me that prior to FDR taking his Presidential Oath we never really relied on the government for much regarding our personal life.  The job of the government was to protect you...protect you in contract disputes, protect your mail, protect you from bad guys, protect you from enemies of the state...protection.  Currently I want protection from the government.

The Great Depression, (although I wasn't born yet) I will concede was a horrible time.  However if you look closely it was governments response legislatively that in many ways made it worse.  Whether it was Hoover or FDR's new deal.  Prior to the government getting involved to make people's life "better" if you were down and out or having a string of bad luck you got help from the local church, the community, a civic organization or maybe your family.  You would never look to the government for a handout. You did everything you could to take care of yourself.

With the "invention" of big daddy, i.e. the govt. we want everything but we don't want to pay anything.  We want unlimited services but have either forgot or were not educated in the fact that nothing, absolutely nothing is free.  We have been borrowing unlimited amounts of money or printing it and now it is time to pay the piper.  What was once leisure is now necessity.  What was once privilege that you worked hard for, many believe is something that all are entitled to.  It is as if no one has to work to excel anymore...my son's soccer team was the worst team on the planet when he was three...they all got a trophy.  Really?!

People, it's the government, not your daddy.  Quit asking them to take care of you.  Quit giving them more power...we will not get it back.  Look up what personal responsibility is and then follow through.  The government is broke which in more simple terms means we are broke.  To get our lives and American Pride back we need to do the following...

1.  Get rid of all entitlement programs.  If we actually got what we were entitled to it wouldn't be pretty.

2.  We absolutely need to take care of our elderly...they helped us become great and if that is going to be through a program such as Social Security, great.  However the politician who sticks his/her hand in the pot gets their hand cut off...literally.

3.  Remind those that run for office that they work for us!  These last few months (what feels like years) has been a big job interview.  The interview is over and now we will hire.  Do the job or we will have security escort you to the door.  Congressional service was not meant to be a career.  As employers let's remind them.

4.  The Capitol building is not the politicians, the White House is not the President's, the Supreme Court is ours.  You people work for us...NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!!!  If you were to pull some of the stunts you pull in congressional sessions in the real world you would be instantly fired or someone might just kick your...  Which by the way most of you deserve...both sides of the isle.

5.  You pass a health care package...you use it also.  Anything you pass that effects me...you use the program also.

6.  You use our money for anything other than what the Constitution says...immediate dismissal.  Over 70% percent of your employers would like to fire all 535 of you anyway.  By the way...let's make it a requirement that if you are in government service you have to have actually read the Constitution...could be helpful...dummies.

7.  A flat tax.  Everyone pays...I don't care what income category you are in...do you use the roads? the schools? the library? the police department? the fire department? the military?  If you use it you pay for it, otherwise eviction.

8.  Military, police, firefighters...anyone hurt in the line of duty protecting us, i.e. you, gets whatever they need to lead a comfortable productive life.  The best medical, the cutting edge prosthetics, best mental health, money for downpayments on housing, college.  The qualifications are simple...you take a bullet to protect your fellow man!  If you want the same benefits, step up.

These are just a few things on my mind.  If you want it, earn it!  If you use it, pay for it!  If you serve to keep my family safe, you get it.  Life is not fair...people have been telling you this forever...if it wasn't true we would stop saying it.  Let's be who we are supposed to be...Americans, free, individuals, virtuous, people with integrity, people with character, people who tell the truth no matter how hard, not what people want to hear to make them feel better.  We need to buck up, pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and show the world who we are.  We are exceptional as a people and a nation.  No more apology, no more paddy-cake.  It is not the governments job to take care of us.  Let's not be slaves to that which we control.

WE ARE AMERICA!!

"You will never know how much it has cost my generation to perserve your freedom.  I hope you will make good use of it."

~ John Quincy Adams ~
