Career Frustration...

As I was preparing for another day "at the office" this morning I found myself thinking about the choices I have made regarding my career path.  It is interesting that although I really do "love" my job I many times find myself wondering if it was a wise choice...the smart thing to do...

I am a high school AP U.S. History and Economics teacher...there is nothing I like studying more.  I get to talk about my passion on a daily basis to a captive audience.  However, many times the captive audience is like teaching a group of inmates at the state penitentiary...they can't leave either.  For most students I am a means to an end.  They are not so much concerned about learning as they are doing well on the next test in order to keep their GPA in check.  Then there are those who feel incarcerated in school...due to the lack of interest they have in meeting the minimum requirements, not only are my tax dollars being used by school to keep them out of trouble, my tax dollars are going to be at work after they commit a crime as a result of not being educated. Now, actually incarcerated.  Now don't get me wrong I do have some students who really work hard and want to learn but in all reality that is the minority.

The career frustration comes from the following...
1.  Recognition...I started my working life as a custom framer (house builder).  The guy I worked for was a slave driver but quite possibly one of the most fair people I ever worked for.  He would never ask you to do anything he wasn't willing to jump in and do himself.  In ten years I don't remember him ever telling me I had done a good job...I do remember him letting lots of people go.  His compliment came in two forms...if you got to return to the job site the following Monday...his way of saying"Good Job".  Also when you got your check, if you occasionally were making more per hour, also his way of saying  "Good Job".  However you never thanked him or told anyone you had gotten a raise.  The thank you was irrelevant because it wasn't a gift, it was the value you brought to the table, if you told anyone how much you made and he caught wind you would be fired immediately.  In the 17 years I have been in education I have never been told I am a good teacher and any increase in pay was as a result of a union negotiation mandating the same percentage for everyone regardless of whether you were good at your craft or a train wreck.  I don't consider that being told "Good Job".
2.  My perception (which of course is my reality) is that in most chosen fields there is some form of upward mobility.  That is not really the case in education.  I am 46 years old and I am at the top of the pay scale...that's it...no more.  I will make virtually the same amount of money for the next 20 years until I retire.  Now many people would say, "Why don't you do something else?" A very valid question...Almost all of my retirement is in the "Public Employee Retirement Association".  It would be financially dificult for me to pursue other things at this point.
3.  When around people who are successful in other areas it is amazing how many people still stand by the mindset of "If you can, do, if you can't, teach."  Really?!
4.  Everyone on the planet slams public school teachers as not being able to do a good job.  Have you ever tried teaching your child.  He/she is dumb as a post and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
5.  We are told by political wannabes how and what to teach.  That would be like me going to a hospital and telling a surgeon where to cut.  Leadership by people who either have never been in a classroom or haven't been for 20 years.  No offense to my catholic friends but that is like getting advice from a priest on marriage.

Obviously I could go on and on but why would anyone listen...after all I am just a teacher.  I have a master's degree plus over 16 hours of graduate study...but still just a teacher.  My entire family is made up of educators (teachers) and I am proud of each and everyone of them.  I am proud of what I do...the interesting thing is I do not want in any way shape or form my children going into education.  I don't want them living on a fixed income with no upward mobility.  Thanks for the cathartic moment.

My Solution...

It seems to me that prior to FDR taking his Presidential Oath we never really relied on the government for much regarding our personal life.  The job of the government was to protect you...protect you in contract disputes, protect your mail, protect you from bad guys, protect you from enemies of the state...protection.  Currently I want protection from the government.

The Great Depression, (although I wasn't born yet) I will concede was a horrible time.  However if you look closely it was governments response legislatively that in many ways made it worse.  Whether it was Hoover or FDR's new deal.  Prior to the government getting involved to make people's life "better" if you were down and out or having a string of bad luck you got help from the local church, the community, a civic organization or maybe your family.  You would never look to the government for a handout. You did everything you could to take care of yourself.  

With the "invention" of big daddy, i.e. the govt. we want everything but we don't want to pay anything.  We want unlimited services but have either forgot or were not educated in the fact that nothing, absolutely nothing is free.  We have been borrowing unlimited amounts of money or printing it and now it is time to pay the piper.  What was once leisure is now necessity.  What was once privilege that you worked hard for, many believe is something that all are entitled to.  It is as if no one has to work to excel anymore...my son's soccer team was the worst team on the planet when he was three...they all got a trophy.  Really?!

People, it's the government, not your daddy.  Quit asking them to take care of you.  Quit giving them more power...we will not get it back.  Look up what personal responsibility is and then follow through.  The government is broke which in more simple terms means we are broke.  To get our lives and American Pride back we need to do the following...

1.  Get rid of all entitlement programs.  If we actually got what we were entitled to it wouldn't be pretty.

2.  We absolutely need to take care of our elderly...they helped us become great and if that is going to be through a program such as Social Security, great.  However the politician who sticks his/her hand in the pot gets their hand cut off...literally.

3.  Remind those that run for office that they work for us!  These last few months (what feels like years) has been a big job interview.  The interview is over and now we will hire.  Do the job or we will have security escort you to the door.  Congressional service was not meant to be a career.  As employers let's remind them.

4.  The Capitol building is not the politicians, the White House is not the President's, the Supreme Court is ours.  You people work for us...NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!!!  If you were to pull some of the stunts you pull in congressional sessions in the real world you would be instantly fired or someone might just kick your...  Which by the way most of you deserve...both sides of the isle.

5.  You pass a health care package...you use it also.  Anything you pass that effects me...you use the program also.

6.  You use our money for anything other than what the Constitution says...immediate dismissal.  Over 70% percent of your employers would like to fire all 535 of you anyway.  By the way...let's make it a requirement that if you are in government service you have to have actually read the Constitution...could be helpful...dummies.

7.  A flat tax.  Everyone pays...I don't care what income category you are in...do you use the roads? the schools? the library? the police department? the fire department? the military?  If you use it you pay for it, otherwise eviction.

8.  Military, police, firefighters...anyone hurt in the line of duty protecting us, i.e. you, gets whatever they need to lead a comfortable productive life.  The best medical, the cutting edge prosthetics, best mental health, money for downpayments on housing, college.  The qualifications are simple...you take a bullet to protect your fellow man!  If you want the same benefits, step up.

These are just a few things on my mind.  If you want it, earn it!  If you use it, pay for it!  If you serve to keep my family safe, you get it.  Life is not fair...people have been telling you this forever...if it wasn't true we would stop saying it.  Let's be who we are supposed to be...Americans, free, individuals, virtuous, people with integrity, people with character, people who tell the truth no matter how hard, not what people want to hear to make them feel better.  We need to buck up, pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and show the world who we are.  We are exceptional as a people and a nation.  No more apology, no more paddy-cake.  It is not the governments job to take care of us.  Let's not be slaves to that which we control.

Are We Jacked Up or What??

I'm not a real prolific writer as you can tell by my absences between posts.  There is so much idiocy out there that sometimes I don't even know where to begin.  This morning however, while looking at the news there were a couple of things that caught my eye causing me to ask myself "Are We Jacked Up or What?"  Really, has the freakishly absurd become the norm?  If so I must be the "new" freakishly absurd because I have alway perceived myself as the norm...don't worry, I'm confused also.

Example #1...In July a woman posted an ad on her church bulletin board the following..."seeking a christian roommate".  The ad was seen and a complaint was made to the "Fair Housing Center of the West" stating that the ad violated fair housing legislation by discriminating against all other religious beliefs.  The Michigan Department of Civil Rights has gotten involved and are apparently going to pursue action in the courts.  If convicted the woman could face severe civil penalties in the way of fines.  "Are We Jacked Up or What?"  If this ad were posted in a mosque substituting christian for muslim no one would say a word...Why?  A muslim might shoot you or ram a car bomb into your house...christians, not so much.

Example #2...Juan Williams being fired from NPR for stating what everyone that is not Muslim feels.  If you look somewhat tied to Islam we all get nervous.  Although supposedly a house of worship I wouldn't enter a mosque without being armed.  In reality I'm not planning on entering one anytime soon, period.  Why won't anyone come out and say it...There is no such thing as being a moderate muslim, if you claim to be one you are not familiar with Islam...you are like christians who like to manipulate the true Word of God to fit their lifestyle.  Anyone who subscribes to the mantra "Allah is the one true god and Muhammad is his prophet" is someone I don't trust any further than I can throw them.  If that much.

By the way as I have said before and will say again...There is only one true God...Jehovah is his name and he will kick Allah's a**.

Evil Islam, Biden and a Blitzkrieg...

Well, well...Here we go...a paper in Tennessee has been pulled from the "free" circulation rack at the local Kroger grocery stores and the KFC.  Apparently there was a guest columnist (for those of you who don't know that would be an op-ed piece, aka an "opinion") who wrote that Islam is...shhhhhh...evil.  As I used to say when I was a child, acted like a child, and spoke as a child...  "Duh, now tell me something I don't know".  Of course Islam is evil...now there I've said it again, my picture is now on a cave in Afghanistan with a bullseye on it...oh wait, there was a bullseye on my picture before...because I'm an American.

Now I have no problem with the article being printed and to many people's surprise I have no problem with the businesses yanking the paper.  It's their business, they can do what they want when it comes to distribution within their stores...even if the article is correct.  As a consumer you have two choices...1) Shop there because it doesn't matter to you, or 2) Stop shopping there because it does.  If in this community there is a big enough outcry and people stop shopping at the two establishments I'd be willing to (as my father occasionally says) "bet money, marbles or chalk" both establishments will start carrying the paper again.  They will take what they consider to be the "moral high ground" until they start losing money and their stock holders start complaining.  If that were to happen you would be able to get your copy of the Rutherford Reader at both locations.  While the Rutherford Reader thinks about suing over 1st Amendment Rights I think they should remember those protections are against the government.  One of my all time favorite singers, Trace Adkins, has a great lyric..."Son, the First Amendment protects you from the government, not me.  I still retain my right to give you a good old fashion a** whippin."  How can anyone not like Trace?

More stupidity of the day...apparently the GOP is fuming because Biden used the word "blitzkrieg" referring to what the Republicans are going to do come the next election.  Really??? When you hear the word blitzkrieg you immediately think of Hitler and the Nazi Party...Lighten up...first of all if that is his reference that Republicans are like "Nazis" that won't work because no one that is sane on either side of the political spectrum condones comparing anyone to that group so that would just be a run of the mill Biden "foot in mouth" moment.  If he means blitzkrieg as in "lightening war" (which by the way was very effective) I hope the Republicans go for it.  The conservative movement needs to run right over the liberals in this country before the U.S. I know goes the way of the dinosaur.  I wouldn't consider it childish if conservatives used the "sticks and stones" or "I'm rubber and you're glue" sayings when commenting on those statements the like of...well any liberal because 99 times out of a 100 what they say is nonsensical ridiculousness.

High School and Illegal Immigration

When I was a kid I had friends that would go to the movies, two or three would buy tickets and the rest would wait by the outside emergency exit for those two or three to let them in the back door.  If they made it without being caught they would relish in the fact that they had taken advantage of the theatre and how stupid the management must be...on the other hand they knew that if they got caught they would all be kicked out and take the chance that the police would be called and at the minimum, parents.

As I got older many of those same friends would use fake i.d.'s to buy liquor, again if they got away with it the relishing would begin and the knowledge of consequences if caught were still lingering in the back of their minds.  Many would also use the i.d. to get into clubs, movies they were not supposed to see etc...now we were all pretty good kids overall and if caught I don't remember any of my buddies running from the law, threatening law enforcement, getting in parents faces (as we were all way more scared of that authority than law enforcement, principals etc.), being represented by civil rights groups or granted amnesty.  The law had been broken, the rules had been stepped on.  We knew and accepted the consequences.  We never discussed that it wasn't fair that those that were of legal age and had met the criteria of the law of the land had an upper hand on us.  We had dodged the system, used illegal papers and got busted...period.  We had not a leg to stand on and authorities weren't concerned about our feelings as people.

Now lets take a look at illegal immigration...the "coyotes" that bring loads of illegals across the border are friends opening the door to the theatre, fake paper work or no paper work at all were the i.d.'s used to get into establishments we weren't allowed...clubs, liquor stores or in the case of immigration, the border.  In high school we dodged the system, got caught, and dealt with the appropriate consequences, some of my friends dealt with consequences from their parents that even then were questionable but we all knew there was that possibility.  Illegals know there are no real consequences and when we say "if you cross the border this will happen," our border agents aren't allowed to follow through...our bark has become a whimper and there is no bite.  Our border agents rock...they have, in this writers opinion been stripped of power.

My friends and I were not national security risks and cops were definitely not afraid of us, nor were our parents...we were afraid of them...when they barked we heard it and when they bit it hurt.

Let's make that our national security motto or thought to live by.  When we bark it should scare the sh*t out of those being barked at and when we bite you die from the wound.  After a while all it would take is a bark and before long a growl.  Illegal immigration is out of control and more scary than that is the drug cartels that are "INVADING" the southern U.S.  This is no longer a game, negotiations don't work with these people and American laws mean nothing.  Our sovereignty is being threatened...it is time to play hardball.  We need to build a wall the entire length of the Mexican/American border now!  The foundation needs to be 6-8 feet below the surface so that if someone wants to try tunneling they'll probably die trying...make the wall high enough that if you are coming over the top anyone can see it and it is obvious that you are breaking in to our house...that's when the "Make my Day Law" is put in effect.

I realize there are rules of engagement, but these people are playing with a different rule book.  They aren't going to use ours so we better step it up.  Once we control the border then we can deal with how to handle those illegals already here.  It's common sense...you have to deal with one before you can deal with the other.

There will be some of you who say..."Who will do my yard work?" You...buy a mower.  "Who will pick my crops?' I guess you will have to pay more for American workers and the consumer food.  "What about the construction industry?"  It too will adapt.

We need to step back and become the good old USA again.  Ring the bell, come through the front door and you are welcome with open arms, take a bite of the American dream and achieve what you can.  You try and sneak yourself and/or illegal contraband...it will be a dark day where you may never see light again.

Border Security. Shouldn't This Be a President's Priority?

I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that the average family in Mexico aspires towards the same things as the average family in the United States...good marriages, healthy kids, education, fulfilling job...unfortunately that is not who we are dealing with.  I read an article just today on FoxNews discussing how bad the situation is in Southern Arizona.  Are people really complaining about the immigration legislation passed by Arizona?  It is a war zone down there...I'm surprised our Commander in Chief hasn't apologized for our taking control of the area in the 19th century.

According to the article 3500 acres or an 80 mile strip containing part of a national wildlife refuge is now off limits to Americans due to the escalating violence in the area.  There are actually signs posted warning of heavily armed drug smugglers and human trafficking.

Really??  Have we succeeded that part of the U.S. to Mexico?

Again this seems like a very simple solution to me.  We need to play using the playbook titled "What To Do If You Are Invaded"? 
I'm not the smartest kid on the block but don't we defend our borders and if that is the case wouldn't that mean military action?  This would ring true (I think) since many of the "employees" of the cartels are former special forces personnel of the Mexican Army. Now I don't want to "diss" the Mexican Army, but the U.S. military vs. Mexican trained individuals...doesn't seem like a fair fight. How about we send in a Marine unit and just to make our point some of our Army Delta to put an exclamation point on the signs posted "No Trespassing".

If we have "Make My Day" laws for protecting our individual homes it would seem that we should be using the same principle for protecting that which our homes are in...

Israel, Mexico and Philadelphia Gays...

Three things have caught my attention in the last few days which I realize are problematic but at the same time very easy to deal with, at least in my "right wing, anti-illegal, pro-life, gun owning, bible toting, religion clinging, straight, white, college educated, politically informed, conservative, Christian male" perspective.

Can we first talk about Mexico?  It has been one of the most jacked-up countries since Cortez hit the coast.  They have not had one uncorrupted day since the Europeans (Spanish) decided they wanted it.  Before that I don't know much other than if you argued with the rulers of the Mayan, Aztec or Incan leadership your days were either numbered or very uncomfortable.  I read in the news this morning that 10 Mexican police officers were gunned down outside of a high school and 17 people have been killed in a prison riot in northern Mexico...all this within the last 24 hours.  Other than that not spilling over into the U.S. (which to a certain degree it has) I could care less.  The Chinese built the Great Wall...how 'bout we build "The Great Wall: Part Deux"...then we perch military units at lookout points and consider anyone coming across, over, around, under and not through a recognized entry area with all of the correct paperwork, as invaders.  Ladies and Gentlemen this is a national security issue.

And then there is Israel...I've said it before and so has numerous others that are way smarter than me...Like God for instance..."Then the Lord told Abram, "Leave your country, your relatives, and your father's house, and go to the land that I will show you.  I will cause you to become the father of a great nation.  I will bless you and make you famous, and I will make you a blessing to others.  I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.  All the families of the earth will be blessed through you." Genesis 12:1-3.  Do you need more than that??  The creator of the heavens and earth, alpha and omega...remember that guy?  He is not kidding around.  He doesn't play politics.  Every enemy of Israel in history is just that..."HISTORY"!  I don't want to be remembered as the morons who didn't, couldn't or just plain refused to realize that.  People always want to talk about God's love...Yes, he is beyond love, love we cannot imagine (i.e. the cross), but he also doesn't play, he will and has turned people into ash and figuratively swept them out the door.  How about getting a real man of God to council you Barack-you moron...(no offense)...ok maybe a little.

I was going to talk about Philadelphia gays and the Boy Scouts but that will have to wait...

Democracy or Republic...A Question Answered.

It is apparent that I have been delinquent in my weekly posts and I am now compelled to answer a question posed.  Apparently in this last week a well known commentator on the radio was having a discussion with a caller about whether the United States is a (D)emocracy or a (R)epublic. Side-note...is it ironic one is the (D) and one is the (R)?  Anyway I digress...the caller much to my embarassment was a history/civics teacher who was arguing the point that they are one and the same.  Thankfully the commentator was quick to correct the moronic idiocy of this person who is unfortunately in the same field which I hold dear.  I came across a great, or what I think is great, description/definition of the difference between the two.  I wish I could give credit to the author but since I could not locate his/her name I will make it clear that the following is not mine so I take no credit for it.

REPUBLIC vs. DEMOCRACY



I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." 


SUMMARY 
In the Pledge of Allegiance we all pledge allegiance to our Republic, not to a democracy. "Republic" is the proper description of our government, not "democracy." I invite you to join me in raising public awareness regarding that distinction.

A republic and a democracy are identical in every aspect except one. In a republic the sovereignty is in each individual person. In a democracy the sovereignty is in the group.

Republic. That form of government in which the powers of sovereignty are vested in the people and are exercised by the people, either directly, or through representatives chosen by the people, to whome those powers are specially delegated. [NOTE: The word "people" may be either plural or singular. In a republic the group only has advisory powers; the sovereign individual is free to reject the majority group-think. USA/exception: if 100% of a jury convicts, then the individual loses sovereignty and is subject to group-think as in a democracy.]

Democracy. That form of government in which the sovereign power resides in and is exercised by the whole body of free citizens directly or indirectly through a system of representation, as distinguished from a monarchy, aristocracy, or oligarchy. [NOTE: In a pure democracy, 51% beats 49%. In other words, the minority has no rights. The minority only has those privileges granted by the dictatorship of the majority.]



The distinction between our Republic and a democracy is not an idle one. It has great legal significance.

The Constitution guarantees to every state a Republican form of government (Art. 4, Sec. 4). No state may join the United States unless it is a Republic. Our Republic is one dedicated to "liberty and justice for all." Minority individual rights are the priority. The people have natural rights instead of civil rights. The people are protected by the Bill of Rights from the majority. One vote in a jury can stop all of the majority from depriving any one of the people of his rights; this would not be so if the United States were a democracy. 

In a pure democracy 51 beats 49[%]. In a democracy there is no such thing as a significant minority: there are no minority rights except civil rights (privileges) granted by a condescending majority. Only five of the U.S. Constitution's first ten amendments apply to Citizens of the United States. Simply stated, a democracy is a dictatorship of the majority. Socrates was executed by a democracy: though he harmed no one, the majority found him intolerable.

 

SOME DICTIONARY DEFINITIONS

Government. ....the government is but an agency of the state, distinguished as it must be in accurate thought from its scheme and machinery of government. ....In a colloquial sense, the United States or its representatives, considered as the prosecutor in a criminal action; as in the phrase, "the government objects to the witness." [Black's Law Dictionary, Fifth Edition, p. 625]

Government; Republican government. One in which the powers of sovereignty are vested in the people and are exercised by the people, either directly, or through representatives chosen by the people, to whome those powers are specially delegated. In re Duncan, 139 U.S. 449, 11 S.Ct. 573, 35 L.Ed. 219; Minor v. Happersett, 88 U.S. (21 Wall.) 162, 22 L.Ed. 627. [Black's Law Dictionary, Fifth Edition, p. 626]

COMMENTS

Notice that in a Democracy, the sovereignty is in the whole body of the free citizens. The sovereignty is not divided to smaller units such as individual citizens. To solve a problem, only the whole body politic is authorized to act. Also, being citizens, individuals have duties and obligations to the government. The government's only obligations to the citizens are those legislatively pre-defined for it by the whole body politic.

In a Republic, the sovereignty resides in the people themselves, whether one or many. In a Republic, one may act on his own or through his representatives as he chooses to solve a problem. Further, the people have no obligation to the government; instead, the government being hired by the people, is obliged to its owner, the people.

The people own the government agencies. The government agencies own the citizens. In the United States we have a three-tiered cast system consisting of people ---> government agencies ---> and citizens.

The people did "ordain and establish this Constitution," not for themselves, but "for the United States of America." In delegating powers to the government agencies the people gave up none of their own. (See Preamble of U.S. Constitution). This adoption of this concept is why the U.S. has been called the "Great Experiment in self government." The People govern themselves, while their agents (government agencies) perform tasks listed in the Preamble for the benefit of the People. The experiment is to answer the question, "Can self-governing people coexist and prevail over government agencies that have no authority over the People?"

The citizens of the United States are totally subject to the laws of the United States (See 14th Amendment of U.S. Constitution). NOTE: U.S. citizenship did not exist until July 28, 1868.

Actually, the United States is a mixture of the two systems of government (Republican under Common Law, and democratic under statutory law). The People enjoy their God-given natural rights in the Republic. In a democracy, the Citizens enjoy only government granted privileges (also known as civil rights).

There was a great political division between two major philosophers, Hobbes and Locke. Hobbes was on the side of government. He believed that sovereignty was vested in the state. Locke was on the side of the People. He believed that the fountain of sovereignty was the People of the state. Statists prefer Hobbes. Populists choose Locke. In California, the Government Code sides with Locke. Sections 11120 and 54950 both say, "The people of this State do not yield their sovereignty to the agencies which serve them." The preambles of the U.S. and California Constitutions also affirm the choice of Locke by the People.

It is my hope that the U.S. will always remain a Republic, because I value individual freedom.

Another Check of the Headlines....

Either I'm really smart and nobody in the world around me gets it, or....I'm the really stupid one and everyone gets it but me.  I look at many of the headlines, issues, thoughts, comments, blogs etc. and I ask myself "Are these people making this stuff up just to get published?"  Let's take a look...

My favorite of the week would be Rev. Franklin Graham being told he wouldn't be able to speak/pray at the Pentagon because he called Islam "evil".  Ummmm, guess what?  IT IS!!!!!  Oh no, now I'm a target.  Well let me tell you what Mr. Wack Job Muslim you better hit me with a rocket propelled grenade because if you come to my door our eternity will start at the same time.  I know where I'm  going...I think you will be in for a suprise party.  Heads up...My God is not Allah and he will kick Allah's a** everyday and twice on Sunday.  How's that for politically incorrect yet truth.  History will show you...Muhommad, whom we can't make fun of, (but go ahead and make fun of Christians any day you want), very early on tried the peaceful conversion of Jews.  Since they wouldn't budge he decided that his new policy was join or die.  It's been that way ever since.  Now I'm not going to say that Christianity hasn't done some really bad things in the name of Christianity but we (to my knowledge) never threatened genocide on a group nor put out death warrants on someone because they made fun of us.  By the way, if an entire group needed to be eliminated our God did that himself...What has Allah done lately?  Exactly...nothing.  I'd be willing to (as my father sometimes says) bet money, marbles or chalk that Rev. Billy Graham feels the same way as his son.  If he were still able to do public appearances and had said the same would they ban him??  That would be the real litmus test.  I look forward to the day when the real God of heaven and earth says "enough" (his level of patience and benevolence still and always will seek to amaze me) and decides to open a holy can of "whoop a**".

Then there is the Arizona/Illegal Immigration hullabaloo.  The federal government said they would handle it...they didn't and haven't.  I applaud the Arizona legislature and the Governor...illegal is illegal.  I still say Joe Arpaio should be Sec. of Homeland Security.  What I can't believe is that Obama chastised the governor for signing the bill into law.  It boils down to..."if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself"...the federal government didn't/couldn't so Arizona is.  

Have you noticed that everybody is apologizing these days for everything.  If you were wrong...great.  If you were right then you are scared and too concerned about being politically correct...stop it.

Ahhh, Iran.  Kind of like the M*A*S*H episode where Radar is trying to impress the sophisticated nurse and Hawkeye tells him to just stare fondly into space and repeat...Ahhh, Bach.  I'm sick of Iran and I'd be willing to bet that behind closed doors the rest of the world is also.  My recommendation before it is too late..."Light 'em"

Check this out...You remember Archie comics...you know, Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead.  Well guess what they are introducing a new character.  Kevin,...he's gay.  See political correctness.  I hate political correctness so much I gave my niece a G.I. Joe to date her Barbie.  She (the Barbie) (and also my niece, for anyone wanting to date her) needs/needed a real man, she could still shop with Ken but...

Finally, ...Education.  All I can say is I am on the train, the engineer got off at the last stop, the conductor jumped the train and the rest of us are heading off the tracks as it derails.  Parents if you don't get involved with common sense you will have no control over your child's education...after all it's now against the law to teach your own children in California.

Remember there are two ways to learn, both are very effective.  Wisdom and Consequences, the kind and not so kind. Unfortunately in this country we have turned our back on the first so prepare for the second.  It will still teach but not with an arm around your shoulder.  Trust me I know.

Crazy...

Let's take a look at just  a few headlines that have been in the news this past week...

It appears as though Justice John Paul Stevens will retire this summer at the age of 90.  It is obviously the perfect time for him to retire since he is one of the liberal judges on the bench... who better to pick his replacement than the most liberal and unqualified president in our history.  Will Obama pick a judge based on their knowledge of our constitution? Please, he will pick the most liberal candidate he believes will make it through the confirmation hearings.  Obama does not give a hoot about the supreme law of the land, he does not want judges to interpret the document, he wants "krytocracy".  Yes that is correct..."legislation by judges".  Wait a minute, I've read the Constitution, judges aren't supposed to legislate.  Oh, wait I forgot, Obama and his moronic sidekicks don't care about that.

Ahh, Obama again.  Appears as though Israel is more a thorn in his side than anything else.  He will bow and cow tow ( is that really a phrase) to every arab nation on the planet but Israel I think is just getting on his nerves.  Since he references his Christianity maybe he should do some studying.  Israel and the Jews are God's "chosen people", I have never read anywhere where God has changed his mind on that one.  I think Obama should be careful who he is placating.  The God of Israel is NOT the god (lower case) of Islam.  When it all comes down to it, I know who will be standing when the dust clears.  Careful Obama, let's continue to take care of our Jewish brothers and sisters.

Apparently an Arizona rancher was killed (murdered) by an illegal coming over the border from Mexico.  I can remember some presidents that would have interpreted that as an "act of war".  Now I don't think we need to declare war on Mexico, but illegals coming over the border, yes.  They have been proven time and again to be dangerous.  If you want to live in the U.S. come here legally or face the consequences.  Janet Napolitano is a joke as our homeland security leader.  I nominate Joe Arpaio from Maricopa County in Arizona.  I'm pretty sure he would get the job done.

Here is a crazy headline showing the completely screwed up way our country is headed.  The Maine Human Rights Commission is pushing for no separation of bathrooms, locker rooms, sports etc. between boys and girls in school.  Apparently a 12 year old transgender boy was not allowed to use a girls restroom and according to the aforementioned group was discriminated against.  No separation...really?  The only segment of our population that I can think of that would be for such a thing would be sexually normal, (yes I said normal) adolescent boys.  The shared locker room would be their dream come true.  Please people, are there any just regular folk left on this planet.  I guess private schools in Maine will probably see tremendous growth if this goes through.  By the way when I was 12 I would have no more known what transgender was than the man on the moon.

Last but not least our friend Bart (Stupid) Stupak D-Michigan has decided to retire.  He was the last holdout to get the health care debacle passed.  Now he is facing the heat of his constituency and is leaving the kitchen.  Thanks pal for screwing up our way of life and then bailing.  Something tells me he is regretting his decision.  Maybe it was when he realized an Executive Order is not law.

Freedom...

I came across a curious quote by FDR..."We who believe in freedom as deeply as we do would rather die on our feet than live on our knees."  Although in that quote I realize he was referencing our involvement in WWII,  I wonder how he would, as the founding father of the welfare state in the U.S., feel if we were to use it regarding what Obama and the left are doing to us today.  I am not advocating or condoning violence just as Palin is not in her "time to reload" statement but at the same time I do not want to be put on my knees in subservience to the government.  It is interesting how Mr. Frank Rich, columnist for the New York Times is referencing the few broken panes of glass and comments using metaphors by some as a parallel to the "Night of Broken Glass" (Kristallnacht) in the late 1930's in Germany where the glass of almost all Jewish stores and homes were broken and synagogues were set on fire.  Even though his comments are made in the format of an op/ed piece...talk about irresponsibility and lack of historic knowledge.  That kind of comment also disparages the millions of Jews killed by one of the most evil people to ever walk the earth.

Violence, in the situation we conservatives find ourselves in currently, is not even remotely the answer.  We will repeal bad legislation and take back our liberty at the ballot box.  We need to become educated, even more so in the areas of economics and history, in order to debate rationally the appropriate ways to solve problems.  Conservatives know pretty much without exception that when debating a liberal if you use fact gained through statistics, history and institutions that have been in place through thick and thin they fold and resort to calling conservatives haters, racists and discussing "social justice/equity".  I have experienced on numerous occasions (where I work which is in a social studies department in the public schools) those very tactics.  As "academics" you would think they would be able to have a civil debate...they can't because they can't admit they are in the wrong.  I think conservatives are more willing to admit when they or their candidate have run the train off the tracks...George Bush kept us safe after 9/11 but fiscally he was a catastrophe.

I would say, Mr. Rich, in conclusion, if the left continues to take liberty and freedom, push a more socialist agenda and ask my children to live under a banner of tyranny, Governor Palin's reload comment might change from a purely metaphorical meaning as I and others refuse to live on our knees.
